Carl’s Jr. Antitrust Row Calls For Scholarly Input, Judge Says

Law360, Los Angeles (March 7, 2018, 8:08 PM EST) -- A California judge on Wednesday advised counsel for Carl's Jr. managers and Carl Karcher Enterprises LLC to invite antitrust scholars to weigh in on a case accusing CKE of unlawfully preventing managers from heading to other franchises, saying the case raises novel questions of California law.

The lawsuit, filed a little over a year ago, accused CKE Restaurants Group and its flagship brand Carl’s Jr. Restaurants LLC of illegally suppressing wages by preventing franchisees from hiring each other’s workers.
