Verizon, AT&T Face $100M Overcharge Claims By Calif. Gov’ts

Law360, New York (December 8, 2015, 8:26 PM EST) -- Forty-two California government entities have joined a whistleblower suit in California state court alleging that Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile USA overcharged government customers by more than $100 million, attorneys for the entities said on Tuesday.

The counties of Los Angeles and Sacramento, the Regents of the University of California and other government entities in the Golden State allege that the telecom companies ignored contractual provisions requiring the carriers to tell them which cellphone rate plans were most affordable.
