Tech Contractors Will Pay $6M In Small-Biz Fraud Row
By Daniel Wilson (July 7, 2016, 3:51 PM EDT) -- Modern Gov IT Inc. and several affiliates agreed Wednesday to a $5.8 million settlement of False Claims Act allegations that they falsely certified the technology company as a small business to win federal set-aside contracts and underreported sales to avoid fees.
The U.S. Department of Justice said that Modern Gov and four related companies collectively agreed to deals resolving their alleged false certifications that Modern Gov — a Gardena, California-based information technology hardware and software seller once known as En Pointe Gov Inc. — met U.S. Small Business Administration standards for certain set-aside federal contracts.
