Reps. To Review ICE Contracts With Berkeley Research Group
Law360 (September 24, 2020, 10:16 PM EDT) -- The House Committee on Homeland Security called on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Thursday to provide copies of agency contracts worth $7.7 million with Berkeley Research Group, where acting Secretary Chad Wolf's wife is an executive.
The letter cited federal procurement data indicating that ICE entered into two contracts with the group in 2018 and 2019, while Wolf was chief of staff to then-Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen. It also said that the contracts — worth up to $6.6 million and $1.1 million, respectively — were awarded non-competitively, "using simplified acquisition procedures for commercial items."
