DC Circ. Paves The Way For Immigrant Teen’s Abortion

Law360, New York (October 24, 2017, 3:58 PM EDT) -- The en banc D.C. Circuit on Tuesday cleared the way for an unauthorized, unaccompanied 17-year-old immigrant who is currently in federal custody in Texas to have an abortion, over the objections of the Trump administration.

In the latest development in the fast-moving case, the en banc D.C. Circuit chucked a Friday order from a divided three-judge panel that had sided with the government in preventing the teen, who is referred to in the lawsuit as Jane Doe, or “J.D.,” from getting an abortion for the time being.

The en banc D.C. Circuit did, however, remand the case to the lower court...
