Google Denied Litigation Finance Info In Balloon IP Suit

Law360 (June 13, 2018, 4:28 PM EDT) -- A California federal magistrate judge has denied Google LLC’s attempts to force Space Data Corp. to hand over documents allegedly detailing its discussion of litigation funding as part of a suit accusing the tech giant of stealing balloon-based internet technology.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael M. Cousins said Monday that Google and its parent Alphabet Inc. failed to prove why such information would be relevant to their suit. He added that Space Data says it doesn’t even have any third-party litigation financing, proving the lack of relevance....
