Facebook Loses Bid To Topple Timelines Suit Before Trial

By Megan Stride (March 13, 2013, 1:05 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Wednesday shut down Facebook Inc.'s bid to quash Timelines Inc.'s trademark suit alleging a feature on the social media giant's website infringes its "timelines" mark, clearing the way for the case to go to trial next month.

U.S. District Judge John W. Darrah said at a hearing that he was denying Facebook's bid for summary judgment and would be issuing a written opinion within the next few days. He did not elaborate on the reason behind that ruling from the bench.
