Aereo Loses Bid For Networks' Business Info

Law360, New York (March 21, 2013, 8:46 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge said Thursday that he would not force CBC Broadcasting Inc. and other networks to turn over revenue numbers that streaming television service Aereo Inc. said could help prove its service had not harmed their businesses.

Magistrate Judge Henry B. Pitman said the financial information Aereo sought on individual television programs was too specific, since the networks themselves made no claims that any individual show lost money because of the startup company's service, which uses the Internet to rebroadcast television picked up from aerial antennas.
