Comcast, Others Back Senate Bill Over Patent Suit Venue

Law360, Los Angeles (April 14, 2016, 8:48 PM EDT) -- More than a dozen major companies and trade groups, including Comcast and Intel, expressed support Wednesday for a U.S. Senate bill that would restrict where patent lawsuits may be brought, saying the legislation would return "basic fairness, rationality and balance" to the system.

The one-page letter from 16 entities including Comcast Corp., Intel Corp., Newegg.com Inc., Dish Network Corp., Medtronic Inc. and the Application Developers Alliance comes about a month after Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., and co-sponsors Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Cory Gardner, R-Colo., introduced the Venue Equity and Non-Uniformity Elimination Act of 2016.
