AGs From 9 States Urge FDA To Ban Menthol In Tobacco

Law360 (July 20, 2018, 6:30 PM EDT) -- Attorneys general from nine states asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday to ban menthol tobacco products, saying the flavoring serves to attract new smokers.

In a letter to the FDA, the attorney generals of New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, Idaho, Maine, New Mexico and Pennsylvania urged the agency to ban menthol tobacco products, saying the public health downsides of tobacco flavoring are well-known and the upsides dubious.
