Facebook, Google Continue Privacy Lobbying Splurge

By Allison Grande (January 23, 2013, 7:55 PM EST) -- Facebook Inc., Google Inc. and others continued to aggressively lobby lawmakers and regulators on a wide range of privacy issues during the last quarter of 2012, with Facebook spending more than $1 million on these efforts for the first time, according to filings released Tuesday.

The social networking site dished out $1.4 million in the fourth quarter in an effort to influence federal policy on issues relevant to technology and Internet policy including privacy, security, protecting children and online safety, the company revealed in its latest congressional lobbying disclosure filing.
