Florida Pizza Shop Beats NJ In Highway Trademark Fight

Law360 (May 17, 2018, 2:40 PM EDT) -- The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board has ruled that New Jersey can’t block a small Florida pizza chain from registering a logo that mimics signs for the Garden State Parkway, the state’s latest loss in a yearslong trademark dispute with the company.

The board ruled on Tuesday that Jersey Boardwalk Pizza’s design clearly looked similar to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s famous green and yellow Parkway logo, but that no consumer would think that a highway operator had suddenly gotten into the pizza business.
