Atty Who Sat Out Of Mortgage Closings Ducks Broker’s Suit

Law360, New York (January 10, 2017, 10:21 PM EST) -- A New Jersey state judge has tossed a lawsuit against a New York attorney by a mortgage firm that hired him to conduct real estate closings and then sued after finding out he had often sent notaries to the proceedings instead of going himself or finding another lawyer.

Superior Court Judge Christine A. Farrington last month granted attorney Mark Matiash's motion to dismiss Nationwide Equities Corp.'s lawsuit, saying in a Dec. 16 order that her decision was based on reasons set forth in the moving papers...
