$3.5M Injury Verdict Against Sam's Club Axed By Md. Court

By Cara Salvatore (August 20, 2018, 8:40 PM EDT) -- A Maryland appeals court has overturned a $3.49 million award to a man injured inside a Sam's Club when a car crashed through the wall, saying Friday that a main defense witness at trial was cross-examined with questions predicated on facts that were never proven.

The Court of Special Appeals of Maryland overturned the judgment of $3.49 million entered after trial for plaintiff Dimas Chavez and against Sam's Club corporate owner Walmart Inc., and ordered a new trial.
