Deals Rumor Mill: HP, Sharp, KKR
By Karlee Weinmann ( August 22, 2013, 1:54 PM EDT) -- The top executive at Hewlett-Packard Co. told CNBC on Thursday that she envisioned the company making acquisitions worth up to $1.5 billion. Meg Whitman told the business news network that the California computer maker is looking at purchases in "a number of areas" and could pursue several deals in the $100 million to $300 million range. She did not name companies that could be potential targets. The deal-making chatter comes a day after HP posted dismal second-quarter earnings and scaled down its forecast for next year....
