Trinity Stops Shipping Deadly Guardrails After $175M Verdict
By Beth Winegarner (October 24, 2014, 7:42 PM EDT) -- Trinity Highway Products LLC said Friday that it will stop shipping its ET-Plus guardrail system, just days after a Texas federal jury found that the company had defrauded the U.S. government out of $175 million by selling dangerous guardrails to the U.S. Federal Highway Administration.
In Friday statements, Trinity said the highway administration had requested additional crash testing of the guardrail system, which had failed numerous times, killing or injuring drivers, according to the complaint.
