Boston City Council Approves Airbnb Rental Restrictions

Law360 (June 14, 2018, 8:22 PM EDT) -- The Boston City Council has voted heavily in favor of regulating short-term rental units, making it illegal to post investor-owned units on platforms such as Airbnb, approving an ordinance introduced by the mayor.

Mayor Marty Walsh announced his intention to sign the ordinance as amended, and Airbnb voiced its disappointment, saying the ordinance invades hosts’ privacy. The City Council voted 11-2 Wednesday in favor of the ordinance, which included three amendments.
