Christie Admin Wrongly Denied NJ Sandy Funds, Group Says

Law360, New York (February 5, 2014, 7:29 PM EST) -- A Louisiana-based contractor and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's administration, which quietly ended its $68 million contract with the company in December, had improperly rejected thousands of residents seeking relief funds from Superstorm Sandy homeowners programs, housing advocates said Wednesday.

Citing data obtained through the state's public records law, the Fair Share Housing Center said that the decided appeals of applicants whom Hammerman & Gainer Inc. denied under the state's Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation program and Resettlement program show that almost 80 percent were eligible...
