Verizon Retailer To Pay $1.3M To Settle OT Class Action

Law360, New York (October 2, 2015, 6:24 PM EDT) -- We R Wireless Inc., a New Jersey-based Verizon Wireless retailer, has agreed to pay $1.3 million to end a collective action alleging it misclassified employees as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act's overtime requirements, according to a Thursday filing in federal court.

In a joint motion with the main plaintiff, Nichole Scales, We R Wireless asked U.S. District Judge Renee Marie Bumb to grant preliminary approval of the deal, calling it an “excellent result.” The company denied any wrongdoing in the settlement papers.
