Former Akebia, Merrimack Buddies Face Insider Trading Trial

Law360, Boston (June 19, 2018, 10:56 PM EDT) -- Two former biostatistician friends at Akebia Therapeutics Inc. and Merrimack Pharmaceuticals Inc. will face securities fraud charges for allegedly cashing in on nonpublic drug trial information, a federal judge in Massachusetts said Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said she intends to impanel a jury on Monday and Tuesday and give them a break for the July 4 holiday midway through the securities trial expected to last three weeks.
