NLRB General Counsel Says College Athletes Are Employees

By Tim Ryan (September 29, 2021, 10:42 AM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board's top prosecutor said Wednesday that student athletes at private universities should be considered employees under federal labor law, expanding the ability for athletes to advocate for improved conditions and perhaps clearing the way for them to unionize.
