Calif. Appeals Court Rejects Bid To Block $1B Warriors Arena
By Daniel Siegal (November 30, 2016, 9:57 PM EST) -- A California appeals court on Tuesday cleared the way for the NBA's Golden State Warriors to build a new $1 billion arena in San Francisco, affirming the denial of two citizen groups' petitions and ruling the city's environmental review of the project was sufficient.
In a 57-page published ruling, a three-judge panel unanimously affirmed San Francisco Superior Court Judge Garrett Wong's ruling rejecting petitions filed by citizen groups Mission Bay Alliance and SaveMuni seeking to stop the new 18,500-seat, privately financed arena and multiuse entertainment complex over concerns that the city's environmental review of the project had shortchanged its potential impacts...
