Online Ticket Sales, Review Protection Laws Signed

Law360, New York (December 15, 2016, 9:52 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Wednesday signed into law a pair of bills aimed at preventing the use of consumer agreements to stifle online reviews and the use of automated “bots” to purchase tickets through online sales portals.

The Better Online Ticket Sales Act of 2016, or the BOTS Act, and the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016 both take aim at unfair online practices that can harm consumers, and place enforcement action in the hands of the states and Federal Trade Commission.
