Ex-Players Say Riddell Lied About Football Helmet Safety

Law360, New York (January 31, 2017, 2:54 PM EST) -- Football helmet maker Riddell Inc. was hit with yet another putative class action suit on Monday, this time in a California court by a group of former collegiate football players claiming that the company lied about the protection its helmets offered against concussions.

The suit claims that for years the company used a shaky study to make false claims about the safety of its helmets while failing to update the design with newer padding materials that would have actually improved concussion protection.
