Backpage.com Pleads Guilty In Texas, CEO Cops In Calif.

Law360 (April 12, 2018, 10:59 PM EDT) -- The CEO of recently shut-down sex ad site Backpage.com has pled guilty to conspiracy and money laundering in California, the state’s attorney general announced Thursday, the same day Texas' state attorney general announced the company itself pled guilty to human trafficking.

The announcements said Backpage.com's top executive Carl Ferrer will be sentenced to up to five years in prison, and his cooperation in the ongoing investigation could lead to other criminal charges against others associated with the company that U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions called the...
