Biometrics Co. Dodges Claims It Bribed Foreign Execs

By Rick Archer (January 9, 2019, 6:07 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge has found the creditors' trustee for bankrupt CryptoMetrics Inc. can't recover money the biometrics company allegedly paid another security technology firm's executives to bribe foreign officials, saying the bribes were intended to benefit CryptoMetrics.

In an opinion issued Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth granted a judgment ending trustee Chris Quinn's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act claims against Scantech Identifications Beam Systems LLC for its alleged part in the bribery scheme, saying the record paints CryptoMetrics as both a part of and the intended beneficiary of the scheme.
