Motorola Can't Cut IV Patent From IP Row, Fed. Circ. Says

Law360, San Francisco (March 20, 2017, 2:47 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit affirmed on Monday the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s decision to keep alive some claims in Intellectual Ventures I LLC’s data transmission patent, rejecting Motorola Mobility LLC’s bid to invalidate them for being disclosed in a previous invention.

In a one-sentence, per curiam decision, a three-judge panel ruled that PTAB got it right when it found 10 claims in the patent licensing firm’s U.S. Patent No. 7,136,392, are valid, while 10 others are invalid as “anticipated” by prior art references under Section 102...
