Roku Can't Escape Streaming Patent Suit

Law360 (January 8, 2019, 7:06 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Tuesday denied a bid by Roku Inc. to scrap a patent infringement lawsuit brought against it in October over its media players and streaming sticks, holding it was too soon in the process.

U.S. District Judge Alan D. Albright issued a brief order denying the bid for dismissal that Roku had filed on Dec. 12. Patent owner MV3 Partners LLC had filed the lawsuit on Oct. 16, alleging Roku is infringing a patent covering a system for streaming media content from a mobile phone to larger displays such as televisions.
