Texas High Court Won't Stop $200M Dallas Drilling Suit

Law360 (June 8, 2018, 7:12 PM EDT) -- The Texas Supreme Court on Friday rejected a bid by the city of Dallas to block a $200 million lawsuit that accuses the city of wrongfully blocking natural gas drilling on city land it had leased to an energy company.

The court denied without comment the city’s petition for review, leaving intact a ruling that the city isn’t immune to the suit because it was acting in a proprietary capacity when it leased mineral rights underlying city parkland and the city flood plain to Trinity East Energy LLC.
