Texas Jury Says Megachurch Owes $3.7M In Benefits Fight

By Emily Brill (September 13, 2018, 10:21 PM EDT) -- A Texas state court jury on Thursday awarded a former pastor of a megachurch and his wife $3.7 million in their fight with Crossroads Christian Church over its alleged diversion of millions from the couple's retirement savings to a church construction campaign.

Reached after a three-day trial, the verdict awarded $2.3 million to Mel Dietz, who worked as Crossroads' executive pastor from 1995 to 2015, and $1.4 million to Vicki Dietz, who worked as an executive assistant to Crossroads' senior pastor Barry Cameron for more than 20 years.
