'Dr. Phil' Production Co. Sues Ex-CBS Employee Over Video

Law360, New York (June 15, 2017, 6:05 PM EDT) -- The production company behind the "Dr. Phil" TV show filed suit Thursday in Texas federal court against a former CBS employee who is currently suing the company for wrongful imprisonment, claiming that before leaving CBS the employee stole a copyrighted video clip of Dr. Phil McGraw in order to extort money from the company.

Leah Rothman, who filed suit against Peteski Productions Inc. in 2016 claiming that McGraw locked her and other employees in a room and shouted profanity at them, illegally copied a video clip of McGraw on a private plane from Peteski’s video database and also made a separate...
