'Spam King' Dethroned With 30-Month Prison Sentence

By William Gorta (June 15, 2016, 2:31 PM EDT) -- The self-styled "Spam King" is going into exile — otherwise known as federal prison — after a California judge on Tuesday sentenced him to 30 months inside for a scheme that sent 27 million spam messages through Facebook Inc. servers, officials announced.

Sanford Wallace, 47, pled guilty in August 2015 to one count of fraud and criminal contempt. He was also ordered to pay $310,000 in restitution to Facebook and sentenced to five years of supervised release when his term is up, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of California said.
