Fugitive Atty Gets 12 Years For Social Security Scam

Law360, Washington (July 14, 2017, 9:16 PM EDT) -- A Kentucky federal judge Friday sentenced a fugitive lawyer in absentia to 12 years in prison for his part in a $550 million Social Security fraud scheme.

Eric Christopher Conn, a 56-year-old Social Security disability lawyer fled federal custody in early June, and remained at large Friday when U.S. District Judge Danny C. Reeves handed down a 12-year prison sentence and ordered him to pay more than $106 million in restitution to the Social Security Administration and Health and Human Services.
