Zarrab Tells Jury Bribes Erased Concerns About His Fame

Law360, New York (November 29, 2017, 6:41 PM EST) -- Reza Zarrab told a Manhattan jury Wednesday that he initially was deemed too famous to work with a Turkish bank in its effort to launder billions of dollars of Iran oil profits, but the gold trader-turned-government witness said he solved that problem by sending massive bribes to a high-ranking Turkish politician.

The famed gold bug's testimony came during the second day of trial before U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman, who is presiding over federal prosecutors' criminal case against banker Mehmet Hakan Atilla.
