Verizon Wins Invalidity Claims In Text Alert Spat

Law360 (May 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Teknowledge Corp., an Internet company that has licensed its patent for automated alerts to several major technology companies, suffered a blow after a federal judge agreed with Verizon Wireless that all the asserted claims of the patent were obvious or anticipated and therefore invalid.

Judge Susan Illiston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Monday granted the motion for summary judgment from Cellco Partnership, which does business as Verizon Wireless, in Teknowledge Corp.'s infringement suit.
