NJ Disbars NY Atty Over Immigration Fraud Conviction

Law360 (April 13, 2018, 3:00 PM EDT) -- The New Jersey Supreme Court has disbarred a New York attorney who was sentenced to prison for immigration fraud after admitting that he submitted asylum applications to court despite knowing they were false, according to a decision and order released Thursday.

The justices accepted the discipline recommendation for Freddy Jacobs from the Disciplinary Review Board, which determined that disbarment was warranted rather than a lesser suspension because Jacobs, despite having no prior ethics history, filed applications he knew were bogus and then claimed his office staff...
