Prince Estate Sues Walgreens, Hospital For Wrongful Death

By Bonnie Eslinger (April 23, 2018, 10:54 PM EDT) -- On the two-year anniversary of Prince's death by accidental opioid overdose, the singer's family filed a wrongful death suit Friday in Illinois state court against Walgreens and an Illinois hospital that treated Prince for a separate overdose one week earlier.

The eight-page suit filed in Cook County Circuit Court also targets the doctor who treated Prince for his earlier opioid overdose and unidentified employees of the drugstore giant.

The complaint alleges that the poor care provided by the hospital defendants during that first overdose was a "direct and proximate cause" of Prince's death six days later on April 21, 2016. As...
