Car Dealers, Data Mgt. Co. Reach $29.5M Partial Settlement

By John Petrick (October 24, 2018, 10:29 PM EDT) -- Car dealerships filing a class action over two companies' alleged monopoly over the dealer data management systems market have reached a $29.5 million settlement to resolve claims against one of those two companies, Reynolds and Reynolds.

The dealership plaintiffs note in their motion filed Tuesday in Illinois federal court seeking preliminary court approval that this is only a partial settlement, and that claims against co-defendant CDK Global LLC would remain active.

Reynolds has the smaller share of the dealer management systems market, about 30 percent, compared with CDK's 45 percent, according to the motion.
