Ford Not Liable In Asbestos Death Suit, NY High Court Says

Law360 (November 27, 2018, 6:48 PM EST) -- New York’s highest court on Tuesday affirmed the dismissal of an $11 million jury verdict against Ford Motor Co. in favor of a now-deceased mechanic who claimed his mesothelioma was caused by asbestos in the automaker’s brake pads, finding in a 4-1 ruling that his evidence was “insufficient.”

In its one-paragraph opinion, the majority of the New York Court of Appeals panel said the evidence Arthur Juni presented in a 2015 trial to link his ultimately fatal mesothelioma with Ford’s admittedly asbestos-ridden brake pads simply didn’t pass muster.
