Jailed Ex-Isles Exec Takes Stand To Fight 20-Year Sentence

Law360, New York (March 18, 2019, 9:11 PM EDT) -- Former New York Islanders executive and money manager Stephen Walsh told Manhattan U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska Monday that he was shocked when the judge's former colleague hit him with a 20-year prison sentence for fraud in 2014.

The 74-year-old inmate made the comments at a daylong hearing called by Judge Preska to determine if he should be resentenced. Last year, Judge Preska found it plausible that Walsh suffered from ineffective assistance of counsel as his case proceeded from his arrest in February 2009 to his sentencing in October 2014.
