Ex-NFLers Lose Bid To Overturn Tighter Concussion Rules

Law360 (May 16, 2019, 5:53 PM EDT) -- Attorneys for the thousands of retired NFL players covered by the league's landmark concussion settlement suffered a bruising defeat on Thursday when the Pennsylvania federal judge overseeing the program denied their bid to overturn new, restrictive medical rules that many view as a gift to the NFL.

In a five-page order, U.S. District Judge Anita B. Brody said the new rules did not represent a material change to the settlement's terms, as many irate player attorneys have argued, and are needed to fight fraud, a boogeyman that's been at the heart of several flashpoints over the past year.
