Dannon To Pay $35M In Yogurt Advertising Settlement

Law360, New York (September 18, 2009, 5:08 PM EDT) -- Dannon Co. has agreed to pay $35 million to settle claims that the food giant spent millions on a misleading advertising campaign to convince customers to shell out more for certain yogurt containing probiotic bacteria by claiming they improved digestive health.

The proposed nationwide settlement still requires approval from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, where it was filed Friday. But if the judge overseeing the suit signs off on the deal, it will represent one of the largest settlements ever reached...
