Goodwin Slams Ill. County's Sanctions Bid Over Witnesses
Law360 (July 15, 2020, 9:46 PM EDT) -- Bank of America and its Goodwin Procter LLP lawyers urged an Illinois federal judge Tuesday to deny a sanctions bid by Cook County in a lending practices lawsuit, saying the law firm's communications with witnesses were proper and the county is trying to seek the same relief already denied when it sought to disqualify the firm last year.
Cook County renewed a push for sanctions in June, arguing that Goodwin engaged in the "capture and compromise" of former bank employees who had previously supplied information favorable to the county's suit as confidential witnesses.
