Centene Says Jay-Z Is Force Behind Chancery Records Suit

Law360 (September 16, 2020, 10:25 PM EDT) -- A stockholder who filed a books and records demand targeting Centene Corp.'s prison health care subsidiary is aiding Jay-Z's prison reform agenda, the managed care giant alleged Wednesday during a Delaware Chancery Court trial on the investor's entitlement to the documents.

"What this really comes down to, your honor, is a lawsuit where the complaint is drafted by the plaintiff's attorney," Paul J. Lockwood of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, counsel to Centene, told Vice Chancellor Paul A. Fioravanti, "It's utter bootstrapping."
