Rose Bowl TM Suit Against Pasadena Kicked Up To 9th Circ.

By Rachel Scharf (August 11, 2021, 5:57 PM EDT) -- The group behind the Rose Bowl is asking the Ninth Circuit to revive its claims against the city of Pasadena in trademark litigation sparked by the relocation of the 2021 college football game due to California's COVID-19 restrictions.

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, a nonprofit that produces the Rose Bowl, said in a Tuesday notice that it will challenge U.S. District Judge André Birotte Jr.'s July 13 dismissal of its accusations that the city ran a "public campaign" falsely claiming rights to the annual game. The Ninth Circuit docketed the appeal Wednesday.
