Class In Lender-Placed Insurance Suit Could Hit 625K

Law360, New York (January 28, 2010, 5:31 PM EST) -- The plaintiff in a purported class action accusing American Security Insurance Co. of unfair business practices and fraud in connection with force-placed homeowners insurance is seeking to certify a class of up to 625,000 people in California.

Michelle Wahl filed her motion for class certification in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Wednesday, alleging American Security improperly waived insurance benefits from a previous homeowners policy.

Also on Wednesday, American Security filed a motion for judgment on the pleadings in the case....
