Publishers Dispute Restraining Order On Media Alliance

Law360 (December 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- MediaNews Group Inc. and Hearst Corp. have challenged a federal judge’s decision to place a temporary restraining order blocking the two publishers from consolidating some of their newspaper operations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Attorneys for the two companies filed a brief in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday, taking issue with Judge Susan Illston’s order last week that a potential collaboration on distribution and national advertising sales in the Bay Area would be anti-competitive or illegal.
