Texas Title Insurance Buyers Win Class Cert.

Law360, New York (March 30, 2010, 4:28 PM EDT) -- A judge has awarded class certification to a group of title insurance buyers in Texas who claim First American Title Insurance Co. charged them unlawfully high premiums for their policies, the latest in a string of setbacks for First American's title business.

The class should be certified but narrowed down from the plaintiffs' original definition, Judge A. Joe Fish ruled in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on Monday.
