L-3 Wins New Trial In Lockheed Trade Secrets Suit

Law360, New York (April 6, 2010, 7:25 PM EDT) -- Finding that Lockheed Martin Corp. withheld certain pertinent documents during discovery, a federal judge has thrown out a $37 million jury verdict for the aircraft company and ordered a new trial in its suit accusing L-3 Communications Corp. of trade secrets violations.

Judge Charles A. Pannell Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia ruled March 31 that while Lockheed's inability to turn over all communications with another competitor regarding the use of Lockheed's proprietary information did not warrant the “extreme sanction”...
