YouTube Loss In IP Suit Would Hurt Web: Amici

Law360, New York (April 14, 2010, 2:23 PM EDT) -- The specter of billion-dollar copyright infringement damages in content owners' cases against YouTube Inc. threatens to kill Internet innovation that has been a boon for the public, Web freedom advocates said in a proposed amicus brief.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation, the American Library Association, the Association of Research Libraries and other groups asked the court's permission on Monday and Tuesday to wade into two related cases against the video site in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
